The Kangaroo Paw (Anigozanthoshybrid ‘Gold Velvet’) is a rhizomatous perennial flowering plant in the Haemodoraceae family of bloodworts.  It is a hybrid of the Tall Kangaroo Paw (Anigozanthos flavidus) and the Black Kangaroo Paw (Macropidia fuliginosa)

It is native to Western Australia.

The Kangaroo Paw grows to about 40 centimetres (16 inches) wide and 60 centimetres (24 inches) tall.

The hairy, tubular yellow and red flowers look like the front paws of a kangaroo. The flowers bloom from August to May.

Photographed in Canberra, Australia, February 2018.
