The Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) is a deciduous tree in the Cupressaceae family of cypresses and conifers. 

It is native to China.

The Dawn Redwood grows to 50 metres (165 feet) tall. Its trunk has a 2 metre (6 foot) diameter. Its leaves are long and bright-green, turning red-brown in autumn.

It has pollen cones on long spikes.

It blooms in early spring.
