The Sweetshrub (Calycanthus fertilis) is a flowering deciduous plant in the Calycanthaceae family.

It is native to North America.
It grows to 4 metres (13 feet) tall.
Its fruit is an elliptical dry capsule containing lots of seeds.
The flowers lack distinct sepals and petals, and instead they have spirals of tepals. The dark-red to burgundy to purple-brown flowers are 4-7 centimetres (2-3 inches) long.
The Sweetshrub blooms from May to October in the Northern Hemisphere.
