The Lilac (Syringa chinensis ‘Saugeana’) is a small flowering tree in the Oleaceae family of olive plants.

It is native to temperate areas in Europe and Asia.
The Lilac – ‘Saugeana’ grows to 2-10 metres (6-32 feet) tall.
The flowers are usually a light shade of purple, but can also be white, pale yellow, pink, and burgundy. The fruit is a dry, brown capsule that splits in two when it is mature to release two winged seeds.
It blooms in spring to early summer.
