It is native to North America.

The Crimson Pitcherplant grows to about 100 centimetres (39 inches) tall.

The flowers are brownish-red in clusters of hollow, pitcher-like leaves. Each leaf is coloured at the tip with reddish-purple veins on a white background and topped with a roundish, wavy-edged hood.

It traps insects.
