The Beardtongue (Penstemon hybride) is a flowering deciduous plant in the Plantaginaceae family. 

It is native to North America. 

It has tube-shaped and two-lipped flowers with a prominent staminode. The flower looks like an open-mouth with a hairy tongue. 

The Sour Grapes cultivar has purple-blue flowers.
