The American Pokeweed (Phytolacca americana) is a poisonous, herbaceous, perennial flowering plant in the Phytolaccaceae family. It is also known as Poke Sallet, Dragonberries, Poke Root, and Inkberry.

It is native to easter North America.

It grows to 120-300 centimetres (4-10 feet) tall. 

It has simple leaves on green to red or purplish stems. 

The American Pokeweed flowers are green to white.

The fruit is a berry that is almost black when ripe.
