Panama Hat Plant (Carludovica palmata) is an evergreen perennial flowering plant in the Cyclanthaceae family. It is also known as the Toquilla Palm.

The Panama Hat Plant is a monocot, and not a true palm.
It is native from countries in Central America to Bolivia.
It grows to 3-4 metres (10-13) tall. The stems are used to make Panama hats.
It has soft, flexible, green leaves in a fan-shape. They are used to make brooms.
The female flowers have large stigmas. The male plants have lots of pollen.
The fruit is red.
