The Common Blue Violet (Viola soraria) is a flowering herbaceous, perennial plant in the Violaceae family. It is also known as the Meadow Violet, Purple Violet, and Hooded Violet.

The Common Blue Violet is native to North America.
It is short-stemmed with wide heart-shaped leaves about 25 centimetres (10 inches) wide.
The flowers are purple, blue or white with white throats. The lower three petals are hairy.
It blooms in spring and summer.
