The Sharry Baby Orchid (Oncidium – Sharry Baby) is a hybrid, epiphytic plant in the Orchidaceae family of orchids. It is a hybrid between the Oncidium Jamie Sutton and the Oncidium Honolulu. It is also known as the Chocolate Orchid due to its fragrance. It is described as the “iconic must-have orchid.”
It is native to South America and Central America.
The Sharry Baby Orchid has many axillary buds or stems (multiple root systems) and is therefore a sympodial orchid.
It has narrow leaves about 15-25 centimetres (6-10 inches) long.
It can produce 150-250 flowers at a time. It varies in colour from dark-purple to yellowish-brown about 2.5 centimetres (an inch) in diameter. The lip colour varies from white to dark pink. The sepals are dark-red. The flowers last for 3-4 weeks.
