The Velvet Maple (Acer velutinum) is a deciduous flowering tree in the Sapindaceae family of maples. It is also known as the Persian Maple.

It is native to the Caucasus – Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia – as well as northern Iran.
It grows to over 40 metres (130 feet) tall.
It has five-lobed green leaves, about 15-20 centimetres (6-8 inches) across.
The flowers are yellowish-green, about 8-10 centimetres (3-4 inches) in diameter.
