The Starflower (Borago officinalis) is an annual flowering herb in the Boraginaceae family. It is also known as Borage.

It is native to the Mediterranean region and across Europe.

It grows to 60-100 centimetres (24-39 inches) tall.

There are tiny hairs all over the stems and leaves. The leaves grow to 15 centimetres (6 inches) long.

The flowers have five blue or pink triangular or star-shaped petals.

It is self-seeding and a good companion plant with legumes, spinach, brassicas, and strawberries.

The Starflower blooms from June to October in the Northern Hemisphere.

Photographed at the Paris Botanical Garden, France, August 2022.
