St. Peter’s Palm

The Yucca Palmier de Saint-Pierre, or St. Peter’s Palm (Yucca filifera) is a flowering tree in the Agavaeae family of Yucca trees.

It is native to North America.

The St. Peter’s Palm grows to about 8 metres (26 feet) tall and up to 4 metres (13 feet) wide.

It has stiff, erect green-blue leaves with edges lined with threads.

In summer, it has lightly-lemony-scented creamy-white bell flowers on a large, drooping stalk. The flowers are about 10 centimetres (4 inches) long.

The St. Peter’s Palm blooms from June to August in the Northern Hemisphere.

Photographed at the Paris Botanical Garden, France, February 2023.
