Buddleja officinalis

The Buddleja officinalis (Buddleja officinalis) is a flowering, deciduous shrub in the Scrophulariaceae family.

It is native to central China.

It grows in an arch-shape, up to 2.5 metres (8 feet) tall.

Its leaves are 7-13 centimetres (3-5 inches) long.

The flowers are lilac to purple inflorescences that are about 8 centimetres (3 inches) long.

The flowers are hermaphroditic, having both male and female parts on the same plant. They are sweet and attract many species of butterflies that feed on the nectar.

Photographed at the Paris Botanical Garden, France, February 2023.
