Alpine Dock

The Alpine Dock (Rumex alpinus or Rumex montanum) is a perennial, herbaceous flowering plant in the Polygonaceae family. It is also called the Alpine Patience Dock and Alpine Herb Patience.

It is native to Europe and western Asia.

It grows to 200 centimetres (79 inches) tall.

Its very large dark-green leaves are deeply lobed and turn red in autumn.

The flowers have five white, pink or red flowers in a cluster on a long stem, up to 2 metres (6 feet) in length.

The Alpine Dock blooms in spring to summer from June to August in the Northern Hemisphere.

Photographed in Paris, France, April 2023.
