Persian Walnut Tree

The Persian Walnut Tree (Juglans regia) is a flowering deciduous tree in the Juglandaceae family. It is also known as English Walnut, Carpathian Walnut, or Madeira Walnut. 

It is native to the Balkans and the Caucasus to Europe and China.

It grows to 25-35 metres (80-120 feet) tall, with a trunk up to 2 metres (6 feet) in diameter. Its bark is smooth, olive-brown.

The leaves are 25-40 centimetres (10-16 inches) long with 5-9 leaflets.

The flowers are male and female. The male flowers are drooping catkins, 5-10 centimetres (2-4 inches) long. The small female flowers are in clusters of 2-5.

The Persian Walnut Tree blooms in autumn.
