Tatar Maple
The Tartar Maple (Acer tataricum ginnala) is a flowering deciduous tree or shrub in the Sapindaceae family. It is also known as the Tatarian Maple.
It is common across central and south-eastern Europe and temperate Asia.
It grows to 4-12 metres (13-39 feet) tall with a short trunk up to 20-50 centimetres (8-20 inches) in diameter.
The bark is thin, smooth, and pale-brown at first, then develops fissures as it ages.
The green serrated leaves are 5-10 centimetres (2-4 inches) long and 3-7 centimetres (1-3 inches) wide – either unlobed or with 3-5 shallow lobes.
The flowers are small and whitish-green, producing spreading panicles.
The fruit is small and reddish.
The Tatar Maple blooms in spring.
